Check that stepping down the mat will not start the machine operation, but it can restart. 4. Check whether the dangerous movement stops before reaching the dangerous area when approaching the machine at walking speed. In critical applications, downtime test 5 should be performed. If any type of mute system is installed, check that the mat system only mutes the non hazardous parts of the operating cycle, and that any mute indicators work properly. 6. Test the emergency stop function of the machine. Section 7 - Use Before putting the machine into normal use, ensure that the operator and supervisor understand the nature and purpose of the mat subsystem and the functions of the controller and indicator. Ensure that technical specifications and inspection, test and maintenance instructions are available to relevant personnel and that an inspection record system is in place. Make sure that personnel understand that there will be no additional covers, boards, plates or planks on the sensor pads during machine operation. 36 Section 8 - Maintenance This section should be read in its entirety before any maintenance is carried out. Attention should be paid to the requirements of planned preventive maintenance. During maintenance operations, disconnect the prime mover of the machine before operating the mat subsystem. Observe electrical safety precautions. 8.1 Cushion cleaning The sensor mat should be cleaned regularly to remove debris and other materials and other sediments.
If it is necessary to clean or flush the sensor pad with hose to clean or remove grease, it is allowed to use warm water and detergent. Do not use solvents. 8.2 Routine Inspection and Testing - (Weekly is recommended) Stop the machine. Clean and dry the sensor pads. Check the top surface of the pad for damage. Slight scratches and wear on vinyl covers are acceptable, but any damage to exposed metal plates must be handled immediately. Check whether the peripheral trim and joint trim are cracked, broken or deformed, and whether the fixing parts are secure. Damaged parts must be replaced immediately. Test the mat operation. Two people are required, one to walk on the mat and the other to observe the control unit. On systems using manual reset mode, the reset button must be continuously pressed and released. Before starting the mat, check that the machine enable LED lights up and goes out immediately after stepping on the mat. A person should walk through each part of the mat and each connecting part in turn (i.e., stand with both feet on the same uniform decoration between the two parts). The machine enable LED must remain off for the entire time. Leave the mat and operate the reset button. Check that the machine enable LED is illuminated. Start the machine, step on the mat and check whether the machine stops immediately. Check whether all fixed protective devices and corner plates are in place, undamaged and firmly fixed.
