The brake and clutch contactor operate as expected. 6.5.2 Dual channel system (see Figure 16 and 18, Section 5) 1. Simulate normal operation. Stand on the mat and start the mat, and immediately check whether the two final contactors fall off. Check that any other safety related stop functions, such as brake/clutch contactors, operate as expected. 2. Isolate the power supply, and then install a temporary fault by shorting terminals 13 and 14 at terminal block 6 (Figure 26 or 27). 3. Restore the power supply and start the sensor pad, and check that one of the final contactors is immediately disconnected, and that any other stop functions associated with this channel operate as expected. 4. Check that the control unit will not reset 5. Isolate the power supply and eliminate the temporary fault. Restore the power supply and check whether the mat subsystem works normally. Take the same electrical safety precautions, temporarily short circuit between terminals 23 and 24 at terminal block 6, and repeat the test (Figure 26 or 27). 6. Check again that the control unit will not reset 7. Remove the temporary fault and check whether the cushion system works normally. 35 6.5.3 All system types 1. Carry out any other tests required to confirm that the safety related control system conforms to the category requirements specified in EN 954-1 and works as expected. 2. Check any other safety functions related to the machine circuit affected by the installation of the mat system. These tests should have existing procedures.
3. Isolate the machine power at the power supply. 4. Reconnect any automatic reset functions provided by the machine control system. 5. Reconnect the machine prime mover to the final contactor. 6. Secure all covers and doors. 6.6 Function check to restore the machine power. Check: - 1. The machine cannot start operation until the mat control unit is reset. Perform the walk test described in Section 8.2.2. Check whether the starting of the mat stops the dangerous movement. 3. Check that stepping down the mat will not start the machine operation, but it can restart. 4. Check whether the dangerous movement stops before reaching the dangerous area when approaching the machine at walking speed. In critical applications, downtime test 5 should be performed. If any type of mute system is installed, check that the mat system only mutes the non hazardous parts of the operating cycle, and that any mute indicators work properly. 6. Test the emergency stop function of the machine. Section 7 - Use Before putting the machine into normal use, ensure that the operator and supervisor understand the nature and purpose of the mat subsystem and the functions of the controller and indicator. Ensure that technical specifications and inspection, test and maintenance instructions are available to relevant personnel and that an inspection record system is in place. Make sure that personnel understand that there will be no additional covers, boards, plates or planks on the sensor pads during machine operation. 36 Section 8 - Maintenance This section should be read in its entirety before any maintenance is carried out. Attention should be paid to the requirements of planned preventive maintenance. During maintenance operations, disconnect the prime mover of the machine before operating the mat subsystem.
